Description

Cheraman Kadhali is the original Tamil novel written by Kannadasan, which won him Sahitya Akademi award in the year 1980. It is one of the prominent historical novels in Tamil.  It depicts the story of Cheraman Perumal III , a king who ruled the land of Chera during medieval Kerala. The desire to conquer, carnal love, superstitions and inter-religion marriage and conversion – all leads to exile of a monarch.  The novel also narrates the social pressure the king faced as a result of his inter-religion marriage.
