Overview

Being a national institution to promote literature in all the languages and regions, Sahitya Akademi is run by three supreme councils – General Council, Executive Board and Finance Committee.

The underlying policies and basic principles are laid down by the General Council. Implementation of these policies and principles are overlooked by the Executive Board. Approvals and assessments of the financial implications of the implemented programmes and functions are overlooked by the Finance Committee.

Apart from the above and for the facilitation and smooth functioning of the organization, there are various boards and committees for execution and implementation that are set up over a period of time.
