An Anthology of Post-independence Manipuri Poetry includes forty-one poets that chronicle the lived experiences of poets spanning nearly nine decades. The anthology captures the poetic mood in the northern state of Manipur, from the influence of the pre-war modernists to the post-independent idealists to the new- millennium realists. The decade of the 1970s ushered in a style of poetry that called for a reawakening and change in all its diverse areas of culture, history, religion, politics, identity, ideology, violence and other issues that have crippled the state.
