Banabhattachi Atmakatha is the exemplary Marathi translation by  R. S. Kelkar of Hazariprasad Dwivedi’s, distinguished Indian litterateur and Hindi – Sanskrit scholar, classic novel in Hindi that depicts the life and times of Banabhatta, distinguished Sanskrit writer during the reign (C.606-647 CE) of the king Harshvardhana. Hazariprasad Dwivedi brilliantly used the available material about the historical figure of  Banabhatta. His technique of employing a number of narrators, narrating incidents and people from different points of view is simply remarkable. It is indeed a delightful and profoundly moving historical tale.
