Amriter Santan is the Bengali translation by Sudhakanta Raichaudhuri and Jyotirindramohan Joardar of Gopinath Mohanty’s Akademi Award-winning Odia novel Amrutara Santan. The story of the novel revolves around the hilly landscape of Southwest Odisha and the local Kondh people. The intrusion of government staffs and moneylenders into the simple rustic life of these tribal people gives forth a complicated dilemma which ultimately brings forth the realization that all human beings are the children of eternity. In the final judgment there is no difference between the civilized and the uncivilized or between the privileged and the downcast. So many characters of various dimensions lend a special aura to this novel which remained a classic throughout.
