Swatantryottar Marathi Kavita 1961-80, edited by T.S. Kulkarni, has select 190 poems by 38 eminent Marathi poets who remarkably contributed to the tradition of Marathi poetry , and rose to eminence after 1960, the year that unfailingly marked the radical change in literary aesthetics in the world of Marathi literature. Some of the distinguished poets included are Narayan Surve, Arti Prabhu, Arun Kolatkar, Bhalchandra Nemade, Namdeo Dhasal, Dilip Purushottam Chitre, Narayan Kulkarni Kawathekar, Anuradha Patil, Mallika Amarshaikh, Bhujang Meshram, etc. Kulkarni’s foreword scholarly talks about the tradition of Marathi poetry, and innumerable dimensions that were added, by the poets included, to  Marathi poetry.
