Remembering the Skies is an English translation of Sahitya Akademi award-winning collection of Kashmiri poems Yaad Aasmanan Hinz. The poems in this collection are a record of experience of a non-conformist individual who lived through seven decades of hope, disillusionment, extreme violence, and re-assertion of an individual choice. The poems, breaking traditional standards of form and expression, try to recognize reality as a crisscross relation between things seen, felt, smelt, and heard to reconstruct the moments of experience. The author has translated all the poems by himself and, as such, the fidelity of perception is maintained without any poetic license.
