For the vastness of its discourse, its critical examination of various literary paradigms and its polemical rigour the book is regarded as major and significant contribution to Indian literary criticism in Urdu.  Thus the book may be considered as a text book, reference book for post-graduate students and researchers respectively.  Sahitya Akademi award was conferred in 1995 for the original Urdu book.
