Vazhve is the Malayalam translation of the Kannada novel Baduku by Geetha Nagabhushana, who was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2004. The novel depicts subaltern culture throughout. It is the story of the lives of three generations of the Jamadar family in a rural community in Karnataka, touching on issues such as caste, social hierarchy and landless labourers in Indian society. She has portrayed the struggles and experiences of women in the patriarchal community.
