Janapada Mattu Girijanara Kathegalu is an anthology folk and tribal tales in Kannada compiled and edited by L.R. Hegde, which depicts the metaphysical, romantic, magical, humorous, witty tales of animals and other groups. There are 65 tales which demonstrates the qualities alike folk and tribal tales of the world. The unique feature of the book is that it contains the tales that are popular among the tribal communities namely the Halakki Vokkaligas, Siddis, Gonds, Kunubis who live in forests, rural and mountain regions of Karnataka.
