Description

Nanak Singh (1897-1971), is the father of modern Punjabi novel – writing. His position in Punjabi literature is the same as that of the position of Bakimchandra and Sharatchandra in Bengali, and that of  Premchand in Hindi. He gave speed, dignity and prestige to Punjabi story – writing. His 7 story books  2 plays, 11 poetry books  and 35 novels have been published, besides other awards, he was  awarded the ‘Sahitya Akademi Award’ for his novel ‘Ëk Miyan Do Talwaren’ in 1961. Sahitya Akademi has selected ‘Ädamkhor’as a best book in Punjabi literature to be translated in other Indian languages.
