Short Stories from Pakistan
Author : Intizar Hussain and Asis Farruqhi
India and Pakistan have a shared heritage and the stories ring a bell in many minds, especially of those that suffered the pangs of Partition and migration and the couple of generations down the line. The stories mirror socio-political changes and the processes of evolution in these spheres. These stories reflect the reality of Pakistani society of a couple of decades ago. The stories, written originally in Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Pushto and Saraiki languages, engage with various themes of their respective communities in unique ways. They chronicle the birth of the Pakistan nation in traumatic circumstances and its checkered history over a half-century, depicting the immensely varied and rich cultural life of Pakistan. The collection is the English translation of Pakistani Kahaniyan edited by Intizar Hussain and Asif Farrukkhi.
