Description

Broadly literary criticism can be divided into two types. First is real criticism and the other is formal criticism. In real criticism the creation is examined in the context of certain fixed principles. In formal criticism creation is judged in relation to the creation itself. In the case of stories, the fixed principles would be the story, the characters, the times, situation, dialogue and purpose, their language. The story has to be judged in the context of these fixed principles. In formal criticism, instead of such fixed principles, one examines the quality of the story by examining whether it says something worthwhile or not.
